Bellissimo’s offers numerous types of special packages for events, area excursions and seminars. Among our colorful and exciting excursions for guests who want to explore Mexico’s fascinating culture and sights are the destinations below:
• TLAQUEPAQUE ~ An Artesanal Mecca
Almost every beautiful item exported from Mexico originates here. (Click to enlarge photos.) Tlaquepaque is artesania central. Find exquisite, hand-made items here. Art, jewelry, furniture, lighting, pottery, apparel, leather goods, and glass. Buy and browse decorative goods of every imaginable type. Most all crafted in nearby Tonalá and sold here.
Tlaquepaque merchants ship worldwide. They also custom make almost anything you can dream of. In fact, if you have something you’ve seen in magazines and want, rip out that page and bring it along. You would be surprised what you can get made in this town! And the prices? Amazing!
This pleasant day trip includes a private driver and round-trip transportation by car. Easily navigate around Tlaquepaqaue on this ‘self-guided” trip. You choose your shops and lunchtime restaurant.
Cost: $50 US per person (includes driver and round-trip transportation). Additionally, you pay for your food, drinks and purchases. Make return trip arrangements with your driver (and pay him/her directly.)
• TONALA ~ Craftsmen and Their Finest Wares
Tonala is an experience you’ll never forget! It is the town where most of the expensive Tlaquepaque goods are actually made. These workshops are off the beaten track, and their doors are not open to the public. You may have to sift through a lot of touristy shops with mediocre merchandise before you come to a wonderful find! But they are there and MUCH LESS expensive.
This town is a more difficult area to navigate alone; but if you are a well-seasoned traveler, you will do just fine. You do have the option of a guide. Most people in Tonala do not speak English, but they will try to help.
Eating here is very casual. You can be very sure that almost all of the fish dishes are excellent in most places. You can’t go wrong with garlic shrimp and an ice cold beer or a Margarita.
Cost: $50 US per person (without guide or paid lunch) OR $75 US per person (including guide and lunch with one beverage at a famous Tonalá seafood restaurant). We do not offer this excursion on Wednesdays or Sundays, as these are Tonala’s giant (and we do mean giant!) market days.
